Fun With Cardboard and Acrylics

Hey Everyone,

I work for a pretty awesome bookstore and as part of the position I'm in I get to sometimes make these cool elaborate displays.  Being the crafty person I am, you can imagine how much fun I get to have at work!

I learned that cardboard and acrylics are made for each other.  Along with doing things for work, I've also helped out with displays for my daughter's teachers.  I understand that bulletin boards are very time consuming for teachers and I would volunteer to put them together or to bring in what I've painted to decorate their classrooms.

Here are some basic things you'll need to create awesome cardboard creations:
  •  Pieces of cardboard (refrigerator size or poster board size, whatever your project calls from)
  • Basic drawing skills (my skills are kindergarten at best lol!)
  • Acrylics paints in any color you want
  • Paint brushes (any and all sizes)
  • Scissors or a box cutter (depending on the thickness of the cardboard)
  • Stencils or Letters
  • Any other embellishments that will make your creation POP!!

Below are a few examples of what I've done with some good ole cardboard and acrylics...
Easter display for work.

A truffula tree from The Lorax I made for Dr. Suess night at my daughter's school.

For Valentine's Day I decided to make an Owl themed display.  Some phrases I used were:
Owl you need is love
Owl be your valentine
We Owlso have WiFi

Now go find you some cardboard
and get creative!
Thanks for stopping by!
